In preparation for the forthcoming Easter celebrations, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has approved the deployment of over 57,000 personnel across the country. This large-scale mobilisation, which includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives, is aimed at strengthening national security and ensuring a peaceful festive period for all citizens.
The operation will cover all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), serving as a proactive measure to prevent potential security threats while guaranteeing the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
In line with the Commandant General\u2019s directive, Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and College Provosts have been mandated to oversee robust security arrangements within their respective jurisdictions. High-risk and high-traffic locations such as churches, shopping centres, parks, and recreational facilities will be closely monitored through both visible patrols and covert operations to deter criminal activities.
Prof. Audi emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and effective collaboration with other security agencies. He stressed that timely intelligence sharing and swift response to public information are crucial to the success of the operation.
\u201cOur objective is to ensure a safe and hitch-free Easter celebration,\u201d the Commandant General stated. \u201cWe are working in close synergy with other security agencies to maintain law and order. I also urge parents and guardians to properly guide their children and wards to prevent them from being used to disrupt public peace.\u201d
Additionally, specialised units of the Corps, including the CG\u2019s Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS), Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad (SFS), and the Crack Squad, have been placed on high alert and are fully prepared to respond decisively to any threats to national security.
