The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Command, has deployed 1,000 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The State Commandant, CC Okarazu C.E., ordered the immediate deployment of officers, including both plain-clothes and uniformed personnel, to provide adequate security coverage at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, and critical national assets and infrastructure throughout the festive period.
Following his recent operational tour of all 18 Local Government Areas, the Commandant directed that the personnel be strategically distributed to cover identified flashpoints across the state.
\u201cWe are not leaving any stone unturned. Our personnel are already on the ground\u2014from the creeks of Bakassi to the hills of Obanlikwu\u2014ensuring that residents celebrate in peace and safety,\u201d he stated during the deployment briefing.
Commandant Okarazu charged officers to remain professional, firm, and civil in their interactions with the public. He stressed that security personnel must ensure that criminal elements are denied any opportunity to operate during the holiday period.
On behalf of the Commandant-General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, the Commandant extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Cross River State, urging them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and national development.
He also advised residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or unattended items to the nearest NSCDC office or other security agencies.
