The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed 2,250 officers and men to ensure the safety of lives and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
This follows the Federal Government\u2019s declaration of Thursday, 19th and Friday, 20th March 2026 as public holidays for Muslim faithful to mark the end of Ramadan.
The Command said the proactive deployment is aimed at preventing potential attacks and criminal activities often perpetrated by miscreants and other unscrupulous elements who attempt to exploit festive periods to disrupt public peace.
To strengthen security operations, the Command has also adopted intelligence-driven strategies and robust operational frameworks designed to guarantee safety before, during, and after the celebrations.
Speaking on the development, the State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, emphasised the importance of early and strategic deployment of personnel. He noted that the festive period typically witnesses increased movement of people, including residents, travellers, and visitors from within and outside the country into Lagos State.
He added that the operational strategies put in place are not only aimed at ensuring a peaceful celebration but also at curbing the activities of vandals and other criminal elements whose actions could threaten the state\u2019s economic stability.
Commandant Keshinro further charged officers and men across all formations to remain vigilant and committed to protecting strategic locations, including public and private assets, critical infrastructure, oil pipelines, right-of-way corridors, religious centres, parks, and other public spaces.
He directed all deployed personnel to remain on red alert and to carry out their duties without fear or favour, while maintaining professionalism and respecting the rights of citizens at all times.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. Residents are encouraged to make use of the state\u2019s toll-free emergency lines, 112 and 767, to report any suspicious activities or emergencies for prompt response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
