The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,070 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The State Commandant, Chinedu F. Igbo, announced the deployment on Wednesday, stating that the move is aimed at safeguarding lives and property, as well as protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) throughout Delta State.
He emphasised that the command remains resolute in its mandate to secure facilities of economic importance, directing all commanding officers to prioritise the protection of critical infrastructure in their respective areas of responsibility.
According to him, Area Commanders have been tasked with ensuring effective security coordination within their jurisdictions, while Divisional Officers are to mobilise personnel for strategic deployment to prayer grounds, recreational centres, and other public spaces expected to witness large gatherings during the festivities.
The Commandant further directed all Component Commanders and Special Forces units to secure identified flashpoints across the state. He noted that critical infrastructure, including schools and other public facilities, must be adequately protected to prevent any form of disruption during the celebration.
He stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration, adding that the NSCDC will work closely with other security agencies to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and guarantee a hitch-free festive period.
Commandant Igbo also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and useful information that could aid security operations before, during, and after the celebration.
He reassured Deltans of the Corps\u2019 commitment to sustaining peace and stability, noting that all necessary measures have been put in place to respond swiftly to any security threats.
