The Federal Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at Blake Resort, a popular event and relaxation centre located in Garki II, Abuja, in the early hours of Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge.
Following the receipt of a distress call, the Federal Fire Service swiftly mobilised its firefighting teams and equipment to the scene. Fire appliances FFS 75 and FFS 178 were deployed from the Service Headquarters, while Fire Appliance FFS 88 responded from the Apo Fire Station to support the containment operations.
In line with its commitment to effective inter-agency collaboration, the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service also deployed personnel and firefighting equipment to the scene. Both agencies worked jointly and efficiently to contain the fire and prevent further escalation.
Preliminary assessment indicates that the incident resulted in an estimated loss of property valued at about \u20a61.2 billion. However, the prompt and professional intervention of firefighters helped save property worth approximately \u20a66.3 billion, while also preventing the spread of the fire to nearby structures.
The fire was subsequently brought under control and completely extinguished.
No casualties were recorded as of the time of filing this report.
