In view of the proposed national protest being planned to take off on the 1st of August 2024, the Kogi State Commamandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Paul Igwebuike has in a proactive measure deployed 1,750 operatives of the Corps to take charge of security, and in the same vein tightened up security around all the national critical assets in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commandant Igwebuike according to a statement re emphasised that NSCDC as one of the leading security agencies in the state would continue to sustain its rapid response to any insecurity related issues in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Much as we concede to the right of people to express their feelings by way of peaceful protest, let it be emphasised that NSCDC shall not in any way, even to the minutest level tolerate any act that could subject Nigeria to insecurity quagmire, especially as it concerns its multitude of critical national assets. We shall not compromise water-tight security measures before, during and after the proposed protest.” said Igwebuike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is also important for the people of Kogi State not to waste time in reporting any suspicious plot, movement, meeting and other insecurity activities that could plunge the state into turmoil to the nearest security organ within their area of jurisdiction. As for the operatives of the NSCDC we are fully prepared to deal with perpetrators of insecurity according to the law.” Commandant Igwebuike further assured kogi residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commandant Igwebuike however urged kogi residents to go about their businesses without fear of molestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Kogi is very strategic to commercial activities in Nigeria, because of its perculiar location bordering about 10 states to all parts of the country; so therefore we cannot compromise its commercial value, vibrancy and importance to the economy of Nigeria, in the light of this I would urge all commercial activities not to be disrupted in any form. The good people of Kogi State should feel free to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation or harassment from anybody. We are totally committed to the NSCDC mandate no doubt about it.” Commandant Igwebuike assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
