Troops of Sector 1 under Operation WHIRL STROKE have intensified offensive operations and confidence-building patrols across Benue State, recording a major breakthrough in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The soldiers destroyed a suspected terrorist enclave and neutralised one militant during a targeted operation in Kumeh Village.
The operation was launched following credible intelligence reports confirming the presence and activities of armed militants in the area. Acting promptly on the information, troops mobilised to the location to confront the threat and prevent further attacks on surrounding communities.
Upon arrival, the troops engaged the suspects in a fierce exchange of gunfire. One terrorist was neutralised during the confrontation, while others fled the scene under sustained military pressure.
The soldiers subsequently dismantled the enclave and recovered weapons, ammunition, a vehicular radio, and other combat equipment.
