Lawmakers were briefed on ongoing reforms aimed at expanding coverage and reducing response time nationwide.<br>The Controller General of the Service, who is currently in Kano on a strategic engagement following the recent fire incident at Singa Market, was represented at the session by Deputy Controller General Achi Ijeoma Okidi, PhD, Head of Planning, Research and Statistics.<br>During the defence, DCG Okidi highlighted key priorities in the 2026 fiscal plan, including personnel training, station upgrades, and improved logistics support. She stressed that adequate funding would enable the Service to meet growing demands and address emerging fire risks linked to urban expansion and industrial activity.<br>Members of the National Assembly commended the Service for its efforts and assured of continued legislative support to enhance public safety. The session reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to building safer communities and strengthening Nigeria\u2019s emergency response
