The Federal Fire Service has successfully responded to a residential fire incident caused by a lithium solar inverter system at Suncity Estate, Galadima, Abuja.
The emergency operation was a coordinated effort between the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service. Firefighting teams were deployed from the RED HOUSE Federal Fire Headquarters, led by DSF Bolaji, and the Apo Fire Station, led by DSF Ogwuche. The FCT Fire Service complemented the effort, working jointly to contain and extinguish the fire.
Following a prompt distress call from residents, fire officers arrived swiftly and brought the situation under control after an intensive one-hour firefighting operation. Properties estimated at about \u20a6700 million were successfully saved, and no casualties were recorded.
The Federal Fire Service has advised members of the public to exercise utmost caution in the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar inverter systems. The Service emphasized that only qualified technicians should be engaged, systems must be properly ventilated, and routine inspections carried out to prevent overheating and fire outbreaks.
The Service further reiterates the importance of early emergency reporting, noting that timely alerts significantly reduce losses and prevent the escalation of fire incidents.
