The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight suspects in connection with the attack on its outpost at Koraman Nayalli, within the Katsina metropolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Hamisu, confirmed the arrests on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Katsina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamisu explained that the incident occurred on Sunday when a group of hoodlums protested a recent raid that reportedly led to the death of a suspected drug peddler, identified as Uzairu, popularly known as \u2018Dan\u2019kuda\u2019. According to him, the attackers, in large numbers, stormed the NSCDC outpost located at Koraman Nayalli in the Sabuwar Unguwa area and set the facility on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that during the attack, three motorcycles and other valuable property belonging to the outpost were also destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamisu added that the armed hoodlums later moved towards nearby outposts belonging to the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force at Filin Kanada, raising security concerns in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He, however, noted that special response squads from both the NSCDC and the police swiftly intervened, successfully containing the situation through enhanced security measures. Normalcy, he said, has since been restored to the affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NSCDC spokesperson further disclosed that the State Commandant, Abbas Moriki, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Hamisu, Moriki personally conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the damaged outpost and subsequently set up a seven-member committee to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the commandant also issued a stern warning to criminals and economic saboteurs across the state, urging them to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
