In order to ensure peaceful, safe and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations across Jigawa State, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Jigawa State Command, has approved the massive deployment of officers and men across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state before, during and after the festive period.
The deployment covers both regular and specialised units of the Corps, including Operations, Anti-Vandal Unit, Agro Rangers, Armed Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, CBRNE, Intelligence and Investigation, Disaster Management, as well as Medical Units. These personnel have been strategically positioned to guarantee effective security coverage throughout the state.
Special emphasis has been placed on the protection of places of worship, public utilities, recreational centres, government installations, motor parks, markets, shopping malls and other identified vulnerable locations. Major entry and exit routes into the state, including border areas, are also being adequately manned to enhance surveillance and conduct stop-and-search operations where necessary.
Addressing officers and men ahead of the deployment, the State Commandant charged them to strictly adhere to the Corps\u2019 Standard Operating Procedures, maintain professionalism, exhibit civility in the discharge of their duties and apply minimal force only when absolutely necessary. He further stressed the importance of effective synergy and collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure the success of the operation.
The Command called on members of the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative with security personnel, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security formation. Parents and guardians were also advised to closely monitor the activities of their wards, while the general public was cautioned against the use of fireworks, knockouts and other dangerous items capable of causing panic or fire outbreaks.
The State Commandant issued a stern warning to vandals and other criminal elements to desist from attacking government installations, critical infrastructure and public utilities, noting that anyone apprehended would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He concluded by wishing the Christian faithful a Merry Christmas and all residents of Jigawa State a peaceful and prosperous New Year, on behalf of the officers and men of the Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
