The Commandant General\u2019s Special Intelligence Squad (CG\u2019s SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of three suspects allegedly involved in the vandalism of a critical telecommunications tower in Yobe State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that certain criminal elements were collaborating with a terrorist group to vandalize a live telecom installation in Savannah, Potiskum Local Government Area, Yobe State. Preliminary investigation indicates that Ibrahim Jibrin<\/strong>, believed to be a specialist in such acts, was allegedly contracted to decommission the mast for N800,000<\/strong>, receiving an initial N200,000<\/strong> payment from an accomplice identified as Alhaji Kabiru of Kano<\/em>. Recovered exhibits include vandalized tower components and various tools used in the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In furtherance of the Corps\u2019 renewed mandate to combat crime and protect national assets, the SIS also made additional arrests across several locations. Acting on intelligence received on 15 November 2025<\/strong> regarding robbery incidents involving motorbike and phone snatching in the Kuje and Tungan Maje areas, operatives arrested David Moses<\/strong> and Nuhu Inusa<\/strong> in Gui, Abuja. Several stolen phones were recovered, and the suspects confessed, revealing their operational methods and the identity of an accomplice who compensated them with two Bajaj motorcycles valued at N400,000<\/strong> and N350,000<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, three suspects\u2014Akawe Uter<\/strong>, Sunny Obasi<\/strong>, and Ezugwu Godwin<\/strong>\u2014were arrested in connection with an earlier case involving George Nyitamen<\/strong>. They face charges of unauthorized power connection and distribution, tampering with electrical installations, and harassing staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following a distress call, SIS operatives also arrested Vincent Haliru Maigari (27)<\/strong> for stealing plumbing materials from an apartment he had been contracted to repair near the Didi\/Madiba Casa Estate. Maigari has confessed to the crime, and other individuals who fraudulently purchased the stolen items have also been apprehended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR<\/strong>, has directed all specialized units to intensify operations against critical infrastructure vandalism and all forms of economic sabotage.
