The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has urged security agencies across the country to adopt proactive strategies in the fight against banditry and kidnapping. He made the call on Thursday during a condolence visit to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, following recent tragic incidents in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje expressed concern over the tendency of security agencies to respond only after attacks occur. He stressed the need for continuous, aggressive, and preventive operations, particularly in forested areas where criminal groups often take refuge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ganduje highlighted the success recorded during his tenure as governor of Kano State, where the Falgore Forest was handed over to the military and transformed into a training base\u2014an action he said drove out bandits and restored peace in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are here to pray for our friend, our brother, and the good people of Niger State. We extend our deepest condolences to the government, the families of the deceased, and those injured,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe appreciate your efforts in keeping Niger State safe, despite its vast land mass and the high number of forests. The real solution lies in taking over the forests. The bandits are hiding there, so why should we remain on the defensive? When I was governor, I requested that the military take over Falgore Forest. A training camp was built, and that is how the criminals were driven out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ganduje also commiserated with the people of Niger State over the recent tanker explosion that claimed several lives. He offered prayers and solidarity to the affected families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Bago thanked the APC national leadership for its support and used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government to prioritise key infrastructure projects in the state, particularly the Suleja\u2013Minna road, which he said would significantly reduce accidents and improve public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
