As the people of Anambra State prepare to exercise their franchise, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has reaffirmed the Corps\u2019 unwavering commitment to protecting lives and safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) while ensuring a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking through the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Operations, DCG Philip Ayuba, the Commandant General assured the public that NSCDC personnel deployed for election duties have been adequately briefed and trained to conduct themselves with professionalism, neutrality, and the highest respect for human rights throughout the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cOur presence at polling stations is purely for protection, not interference. We are there to create an environment where voters feel safe, confident, and free to exercise their civic rights,\u201d Prof. Audi stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the Corps\u2019 mandate extends beyond securing voters to ensuring the safety of critical installations such as power supply facilities, water systems, communication infrastructure, and other public utilities essential to the success of the electoral process and the nation\u2019s stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cOur duty is to protect the assets that sustain the nation because the credibility of any election depends not only on the safety of voters but also on the protection of the systems that support it,\u201d the Commandant General added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Audi reiterated the Corps\u2019 dedication to its constitutional role of protecting lives and public infrastructure while maintaining peace during national exercises. He urged officers to remain alert around INEC facilities, government buildings, and other strategic locations, warning that any act of compromise, misconduct, or political bias would attract strict disciplinary measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commandant General further assured that the NSCDC will continue to collaborate closely with the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, and other security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He appealed to voters to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security operatives, stressing that the safety of citizens, protection of vital national assets, and integrity of the electoral process remain the Corps\u2019 top priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
