Government officials, security agencies, asset owners and operators, traditional and religious leaders, community representatives, associations, unions, market leaders, and youth groups have pledged their support for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the fight against vandalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In alignment with the National Protection Policy and Strategy (NPPS) on the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, extended its ongoing community stakeholders\u2019 engagement and sensitization campaign to the Lagos Central Senatorial District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign reinforces the vision of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to safeguard the nation\u2019s economic resources and ensure public safety through robust community collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, while addressing participants, emphasized the dangers of vandalism, illegal dredging, illegal mining, and unlawful scrap trading to communities and the nation\u2019s economy. He urged stakeholders to partner with the Corps in intensifying enlightenment campaigns against the vandalism of critical assets such as fibre cables, transformers, rail tracks, manholes, and communication masts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keshinro also called on residents to take ownership and responsibility for protecting the critical national assets and infrastructure within their communities, neighbourhoods, and business environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representing the Executive Chairman of Mainland Local Government Area, Honourable Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, the Executive Vice Chairman, Honourable Momoh Adewale, commended the NSCDC for this laudable initiative and encouraged all stakeholders to treat the protection of national assets as a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Traditional rulers present at the event echoed their support for the Corps, urging members of their communities to desist from acts of vandalism and assuring the NSCDC of their full cooperation in safeguarding assets within their domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his remarks, Mr. Tunji Jimoh, Zonal Controller of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), reaffirmed the Commission\u2019s confidence in the NSCDC and called on citizens to report incidents of theft and vandalism of telecommunication infrastructure to the Corps for investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Mike Igbodipe, Chief Executive Officer of Protection Solutions Limited and Security Consultant to Ikeja Electric, highlighted the dangers faced by vandals in the power sector and called for stronger collaboration between stakeholders and the NSCDC to curb such destructive acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representing MTN Nigeria, Mrs. Daisy Oyarikre called for a united front against vandalism in the telecommunications industry, urging community leaders to support field engineers by ensuring they have access to work sites. She also appealed for stricter measures against perpetrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs. Uche Nnakenyi praised the NSCDC for its efforts in protecting operators from harassment at worksites and urged continuous cooperation to minimize asset vandalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Kenny Joda, Head of Public Relations at Fiber One, emphasized that safeguarding national information infrastructure requires collective responsibility. He cautioned those involved in vandalism to desist immediately and reiterated Fiber One\u2019s commitment to working closely with the Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) representative called for renewed strategies among stakeholders to tackle vandalism, while representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) pledged to educate their members and support the Corps by reporting incidents of theft and illegal connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leaders of the Scrap Dealers Association also vowed to collaborate with the NSCDC, pledging to report any unregistered or erring members involved in criminal activities that tarnish the image of the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event featured goodwill messages from representatives of Local Government Areas in Lagos Central, traditional institutions, the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), MTN Nigeria, Fiber One, IPNX, Ikeja Electric, Eko Electric, Seriki-Hausa of Idi-Araba, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), market leaders, the Lagos State Scrap Dealers Association, Community Development Committees, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
