The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Olumide Samuel Adeyemi, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic tanker explosion that claimed 40 lives and left many others injured in the Essa and Badeggi communities along the Bida\u2013Agaie Road in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Adeyemi, on behalf of the management and personnel of the Federal Fire Service, extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Niger State, as well as to the bereaved families. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and the speedy recovery of those currently receiving medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While sympathizing with the victims, the Controller General decried the recurring incidents of fuel scooping at accident scenes, describing the act as both dangerous and avoidable. He emphasized that such reckless behavior continues to cause unnecessary loss of lives and property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Adeyemi pledged to intensify nationwide public safety campaigns, particularly in communities situated along major petroleum transport routes, to discourage risky practices and promote fire safety consciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reaffirmed the Federal Fire Service\u2019s commitment to working closely with the Niger State Government, emergency management agencies, and local authorities to strengthen response capacity, improve public sensitization, and enforce strict adherence to road and fire safety regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Controller General also urged motorists and residents to promptly report fuel spills and fire outbreaks to the nearest fire station or through the Service\u2019s emergency hotlines, noting that timely alerts enable quick intervention and help minimize casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Adeyemi concluded by calling on all Nigerians to prioritize safety, remain vigilant, and embrace collective responsibility in preventing similar tragedies in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
