In a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against banditry and kidnapping, troops of the Nigerian Army\u2019s 2 Division\/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, have successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi States on October 17, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The daring operation, jointly executed by troops of the 12 Brigade Lokoja and 22 Armoured Brigade Ilorin, led to the rescue of 14 men, 5 women, 1 infant, and 4 Chinese nationals. The victims were said to have been abducted from various locations within the two states. According to reports, the sustained offensive by the troops forced the bandits to abandon their captives, some of whom had been held in captivity for over four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General C.R. Nnebeife, who has been coordinating the operations, ensured that the rescued victims received immediate first aid and relief materials to aid their recovery. He expressed sympathy for the victims and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army\u2019s commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on all criminal groups in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere will be no hiding place for bandits or any criminal elements within the Division\u2019s area of responsibility,\u201d Major General Nnebeife assured, emphasizing the Army\u2019s resolve to restore peace and safety across affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims, many of whom were found weak and exhausted, were evacuated to a military medical facility for comprehensive treatment. They are reported to be responding well and will be reunited with their families upon full recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The GOC also commended the Nigerian Air Force for its consistent air support throughout the mission and appreciated other security agencies for their collaboration in addressing security challenges in the region.
