The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 2025 International Day of Peace with a series of activities aimed at promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Led by the State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, the celebration featured a lecture session and a symbolic peace walk which drew the participation of officers and men of the Corps. The global theme for this year\u2019s event was \u201cAct Now for a Peaceful World.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In his address at the lecture session, Commandant Bodinga reiterated the Corps\u2019 commitment to safeguarding critical national assets, protecting lives and property, and supporting internal security operations. He assured that under his leadership, the NSCDC in Kano would continue to uphold professionalism, patriotism, and dedication to building a safer society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Commandant stressed that achieving lasting peace requires more than the efforts of security agencies alone. He called on all residents of Kano State to embrace dialogue, resist violence, avoid crime, and promote values that unite communities. According to him, threats to peace and stability can only be defeated through collective efforts by all stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two papers were presented during the lecture. The first, delivered by Comrade Dr. Garba Suleiman Marafa, National President of the Wazobia Conflict Resolution and Peace Advocacy Initiative, focused on peaceful coexistence among citizens. The second, delivered by Superintendent of Corps Mubarak M. Bello of the NSCDC Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit, examined the dynamics of conflict escalation and the need for proactive intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event attracted a wide audience, including the management team of the Corps, area commanders, divisional officers, civil society organizations, community leaders, and traditional rulers.
