Bandits, in the early hours of Wednesday, invaded the Akwando community in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bandits were said to have kidnapped an unspecified number of residents and burnt a house and two shops in the attacks that lasted for hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A resident of the community, Jonathan Aminu, in a telephone interview, said three people who were injured during the attack were receiving treatment in the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the bandits started the attack from the market area downward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aminu said, \u201cThe community was attacked by bandits yesterday. That was some minutes after midnight. The attack was carried out from the market downward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThree were injured, and many residents were kidnapped. They also burnt one house and two shops during their attack. Those injured as I speak are in the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another resident, who gave his name as Ahmadu Doris, said, \u201cThese people (bandits) came to Akwando today very close to Awon. Currently, there are people in the hospital receiving treatment. They shot non-stop all through their operations, which lasted for hours. We are still trying to get the actual number of people who were kidnapped, but they are over 10.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police command\u2019s spokesperson, Mansir Hasan, could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Calls to his number were not picked up, and he has yet to respond to a text message sent to him on the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
