The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has concluded a three-day operational tour of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, where he commissioned several landmark projects initiated and executed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, alongside other commanders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While at the Port Harcourt Barracks, the Army Chief inaugurated the Headquarters 6 Division Office Complex Extension and the Python Harmony Centre. He also commissioned a series of projects executed by the 6 Division Garrison under Brigadier General S. Ahmed, including two newly built 10-family Corporal and Below Quarters (CBQs), seven remodeled CBQs, a remodeled cantonment office, and a new Petroleum Oil Lubricant Point. In addition, 29 Battalion\u2019s remodeled Quarter Guard and 10 CBQs were formally opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Bayelsa State, the COAS inaugurated the newly built 16 Brigade Annex Complex constructed under the leadership of Brigadier General Oluremi Obolo. He also commissioned an electrification project executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as part of its corporate social responsibility, alongside a newly completed Garrison House built by Lieutenant Colonel Sheriff Kaigama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other projects included the remodeled Quarter Guard of 5 Battalion, the remodeled Commanding Officer\u2019s residence at 343 Artillery Regiment, the installation of a new transformer, and the groundbreaking ceremony for 20 units of two-bedroom flats for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers\u2019 accommodation at Elele Barracks. At Wellington Barracks, Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State, he also inspected the newly remodeled and fully renovated Medical Reception Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of his strategic leadership engagements, General Oluyede paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, at Government House, Uyo. During the visit, the Army Chief emphasized that the Nigerian Army belongs to all Nigerians, and commended the state government\u2019s unwavering support, which, he noted, has contributed to Akwa Ibom\u2019s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Eno, in his response, praised the Army for its role in maintaining peace, security, and development in the state. He highlighted the effective civil-military relations fostered by the Commander of 2 Brigade, Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi, and pledged continuous support to the Army in the discharge of its constitutional duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Army Chief also addressed troops at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground in Port Harcourt and the 6 Battalion Parade Ground in Ibagwa, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. In both engagements, he commended soldiers for their dedication and resilience in the ongoing anti-oil theft and pipeline protection operations. He reassured them that their welfare remains a top priority under his \u201cSoldier First\u201d concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
