{"id":12844,"date":"2025-08-20T04:58:24","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T04:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=12844"},"modified":"2025-08-20T05:02:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T05:02:51","slug":"ex-nba-scribe-warns-against-dss-interference-in-san-selection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=12844","title":{"rendered":"Ex-NBA Scribe Warns Against DSS Interference in SAN Selection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former National Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Akinboro, has urged the leadership of the NBA, the Body of Benchers, and the Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee (LPPC) to firmly resist moves by the Department of State Services (DSS) to interfere in the process of appointing Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that the issue transcends the current list of SAN-designates, warning that it strikes at the very foundation and future of legal practice in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, silence from the legal profession at such a critical moment would amount to complicity.<br>\u201cThe Bar must resist every attempt to be muzzled. To remain silent is to acquiesce, and acquiescence today may cost us the profession we hold dear tomorrow,\u201d Akinboro cautioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Describing the DSS involvement as \u201can unnecessary political coloration of a professional process,\u201d he stressed that the SAN rank must remain strictly professional and insulated from executive
