Today, at the 2025 National Institute Seminar of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Bwari\u2013Abuja, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, delivered a strategic address on strengthening national security architecture in the face of evolving threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the theme \u201cNon-State Actors in Security Management: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects for Peace and Development in Africa\u201d, the CG highlighted the growing complexity of asymmetric conflicts, where adversaries employ unconventional tactics that challenge traditional defence approaches. He stressed that the most effective response lies in strengthening inter-agency synergy through the 3 Cs \u2014 Cooperation, Collaboration, and Coordination, supported by timely actionable intelligence sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quoting his own words, Prof. Audi declared, \u201cSecurity is a shared responsibility. When security agencies move as one, the people sleep with both eyes closed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He underscored that intelligence, when promptly shared and acted upon, is the decisive edge in preventing security breaches. He further noted that while security agencies bear the primary mandate to protect lives and property, citizens play a critical role in the process. Public vigilance, credible reporting of suspicious activities, and trust-based cooperation with law enforcement are essential components of a robust security framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
