The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has marked a full year without any aircraft mishap an achievement that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, says stems from deliberate reforms and a deeply embedded culture of proactive safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the 2025 Safety Review Board (SRB) Meeting held at NAF Headquarters in Abuja, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that the milestone was no accident, but rather the outcome of calculated strategies and sustained institutional commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis accomplishment reflects the vigilance and dedication of our personnel,\u201d the CAS stated. \u201cSafety is an ongoing responsibility it requires continuous innovation, strategic planning, and personal accountability at all levels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He attributed the success to several key interventions, including broadened safety education, stricter command-level supervision, and the implementation of predictive safety measures. In 2025 alone, the Air Force trained more than 1,300 airmen and 157 officers in safety protocols, raising the total number of safety-trained personnel to 1,199.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur vision is to ensure that every officer and airman is equipped with critical safety knowledge,\u201d Abubakar said, calling for ongoing investment in both human resources and advanced aviation technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also warned against complacency, noting that most aviation accidents are rooted in human error\u2014failures in communication, judgment, or adherence to established procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CAS praised Air Officers Commanding (AOCs) for maintaining quarterly Safety Action Group meetings, urging units to remain steadfast in their safety responsibilities and enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a related statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, highlighted the Air Force\u2019s continuing reforms, which aim to institutionalize a culture of discipline, professionalism, and forward-thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the same meeting, the Chief of Standards and Evaluation, Air Vice Marshal Abidoye, reported that 58 NAF units were assessed and 31 safety inspections conducted in the first half of 2025. He added that multiple safety seminars were held across commands to further promote a safety-first mindset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
