Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully repelled an attempted terrorist incursion into Monguno, a town in Borno State, in the early hours of Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports by Zagazola Makama<\/em>, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the failed attack occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. The terrorists reportedly tried to breach the town through the Charlie 15 axis but were intercepted and driven back by troops from Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sources revealed that the soldiers observed blood trails along the retreat route of the attackers, indicating that some of the terrorists may have been wounded during the exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the aftermath of the encounter, troops recovered several items, including seven rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a PKT machine gun belt, an empty AK-47 magazine, and an RPG bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n No casualties were reported on the part of the military, and the attackers made no further contact after their withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monguno, which serves as both a town and a Local Government Area (LGA), remains one of the areas deeply affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
