The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has expressed serious concern over the escalating threats of asymmetric warfare and the surge in criminal activities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during an operational tour of the NSCDC Abia State Command in Umuahia on Wednesday, Dr. Audi highlighted the widespread nature of these threats, ranging from illegal oil bunkering to the persistent vandalism of critical national infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He warned that these acts of economic sabotage, if left unchecked, could deal a devastating blow to Nigeria\u2019s economy, particularly in terms of reducing its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and weakening investor confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Underscoring the Corps\u2019 statutory mandate to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure, the Commandant-General reaffirmed the NSCDC\u2019s unwavering commitment to confronting these security threats head-on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the ongoing assessment tour across the South East forms part of a broader strategy to evaluate operational readiness, enhance field performance, and improve overall security outcomes in Abia and other parts of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Audi also reiterated his commitment to the welfare of NSCDC personnel, emphasizing plans for improved capacity development, prompt payment of entitlements, and strengthened insurance coverage\u2014elements he described as essential to achieving operational excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, the NSCDC CG commissioned a new office complex constructed under the leadership of the State Commandant, CC Akinsola Aderemi. He lauded the Commandant for the initiative and urged him to sustain and scale up his efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
