The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) recently held a strategic engagement with licensed private security firms operating in the state, underscoring that safeguarding lives and property is a shared obligation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement by the NSCDC\u2019s Public Relations Officer in Zamfara, ASC II Umar Mohammed, the State Commandant, Sani Mustapha, highlighted the pivotal role of Licensed Private Guard Companies (LPGCs) in strengthening national security frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur country is currently grappling with significant security concerns, with Zamfara State being among the hardest hit. Addressing these issues requires joint efforts. Private security firms now play an indispensable role in the broader security ecosystem,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mustapha acknowledged that the increased involvement of LPGCs and their deep-rooted understanding of local communities have contributed meaningfully to protecting citizens and their assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that the primary goal of the session was to explore practical strategies for elevating the operational standards of private security firms in the state, moving beyond a focus on profit to prioritizing professionalism and service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further noted, \u201cOur focus must shift toward achieving quality. The sustainability of private security operations relies on our mutual commitment to collaboration, adherence to regulations, and effective coordination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commandant encouraged LPGC personnel across the state to maintain discipline and improve performance, adding that their success hinges on internal teamwork and inter-agency cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the need for strict observance of legal and operational guidelines governing the industry, as this would ensure alignment with national security standards and expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mustapha also pointed out the importance of continuous education and technical training, urging operators to pursue programs that enhance their capacity to respond to emerging threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called on the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) to take decisive action against erring firms, synchronize operations, and strengthen the private security sector\u2019s relevance across Zamfara and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the event, DCC Oyinloye, Head of Private Guard Security at NSCDC Zamfara, delivered a presentation titled \u201cEnhancing Effectiveness Through Comprehensive Training and Retraining Programs for Private Guard Companies\u2019 Personnel.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n He noted, \u201cOngoing training initiatives are crucial for the advancement of both employers and employees.
