The journey began in 1863 with the formation of the Glover Hausas\u2014a small paramilitary unit established to safeguard British trade interests in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Nigeria advanced toward independence, its military institutions also evolved.
