In line with the mandate of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), the Jigawa State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, has facilitated a strategic collaboration between the Corps and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to enhance the protection of power infrastructure across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The synergy, which adopts both scientific (technology-driven) and kinetic (manpower and tactical) approaches, is aimed at addressing emerging threats, sabotage, vandalism, and other security challenges confronting national power installations in Jigawa State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During a technical engagement held at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Dutse, the Commandant reiterated the Corps\u2019 commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply by securing transmission lines, substations, and related installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the protection of TCN infrastructure is a top national priority, as electricity remains central to Nigeria\u2019s economic growth and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commandant Bodinga stated:
\u201cThis partnership with TCN is strategic. It combines intelligence gathering, operational visibility, and community-based surveillance with robust deployment of our personnel to flashpoints. Our Anti-Vandal Unit and Intelligence Department are on high alert to proactively prevent any act of sabotage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further disclosed that the Jigawa State Command of the Corps has activated surveillance and monitoring mechanisms along TCN lines, and has increased patrol operations in vulnerable areas, particularly across Dutse, Birnin-Kudu, Hadejia, Gumel, and Kazaure transmission corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, the TCN Senior Manager Human Resource Ahmad M. Abubakar in Jigawa commended the proactive efforts of the NSCDC, noting that the collaboration will significantly reduce incidents of vandalism and facilitate timely reporting of threats to national grid components. He affirmed TCN\u2019s readiness to provide technical support, intelligence-sharing platforms, and joint field assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative aligns with the broader directive of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, who has consistently emphasized inter-agency cooperation, modern security solutions, and community engagement in safeguarding national assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
